Wind & Snow Wrap Up the New Year!
A quick moving shortwave trough will pass across northern Colorado this morning and exit by the early afternoon hours. This trough is going to do a few things to the weather across the state. First and foremost is the snow this morning along the Continental Divide. Looking at the I-70 webcams, it seems as if the snow starts near Frisco, and is done with by Floyd Hill. The heaviest is along the Divide.
Friday Afternoon Update
Tonight: High clouds continue to stream through. A few snow showers will be possible by morning in the northern and central mountains. Winds will also begin to pick up. Lows in the 20s.
Snow Flying in GJ
Snow continues to fly this morning across the Grand Valley. Accumulation so far looks to be around 1″. The snow should continue into the early afternoon before letting up. Roads across the area are slick! Main roads looks okay, but side streets are a mess, because temperatures are in the 20s. Tonight: As our storm system departs, the precipitation on the Western Slope will wind down. The valleys will be done with the rain and snow showers by the early evening hours, while some snow showers will linger in the mountains until midnight. Wednesday Evening Forecast Update
Tonight: Clear skies and cool temperatures can be expected. Overnight lows will fall to near 40° through the Grand Valley, and middle to upper 30s near Montrose. Mountain cities and towns can expect lows to fall back to the 20s and low 30s.
Wednesday Morning Forecast Update
Today: Skies will be sunny and temps will be pleasant on your Wednesday in the lower valleys. Expect afternoon highs of around 71º in GJ and 68º in Montrose. In the higher terrain, mainly sunny skies are forecast, with a high of 54º in Telluride and 56º in Aspen.
